Meet Aralia
The Aralia is a species of evergreen shrub with rich green leaves. Native to India and widely cultivated in the tropical Pacific Islands, this plant thrives brightly lit indoor areas and outdoors in warmer climates. Also used as Bonsai.
- Light: Aralia plants can survive in low light conditions, but grow faster and produce more leaves in medium to bright indirect light.
- Pet Friendly: No
- Water: In low light conditions, an Aralia may need water as little as every 2-3 weeks. Too much water, resulting in root rot, is the main reason Aralia plants die. Allow the top 50% of the soil to dry out before watering.
- Humidity: High
- Temperature: Aralia plants prefer temperatures between 60°-85° F.
- Difficult Level: Medium
Why are my leaves yellowing?
This may be due to a lack of nutrients, re-potting or adding fertilizer may help this issue. Over-watering and sudden temperature changes could also be a reason for this issue.
What pest problems do Aralia plants have?
If an Aralia is properly cared for, there shouldn't be any serious disease or fungus issues. Watch out for Mealybugs sucking the plant juices, Nematodes, White Flies, Aphids (aka Plant Lice).
Why are my leaves dropping?
Low humidity and inadequate soil moisture may be causing this issue. Misting the foliage with distilled or filtered water may help.
